Bear- The Delaware State Police have identified the operator of a motorcycle who died in a crash on April 3, 2020 on Rt. 40 at Buckley Blvd. as 23-year-old Ethan Yancey of Newark, DE.

The Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal motor vehicle crash that occurred this afternoon, according to Public Information Officer, Senior Corporal Heather Pepper.
Pepper said the incident occurred at approximately 2:13 p.m., Thursday, April 2, 2020, on Pulaski Hwy. (Rt. 40), at the intersection with Buckley Blvd., in Bear. A 2018 Yamaha motorcycle, operated by a 23-year-old Newark man, was traveling eastbound on Pulaski Hwy. approaching a green light at the intersection of Buckley Blvd. A 2004 Jeep Cherokee operated by a 49-year-old Bear man, was traveling westbound on Pulaski Hwy. and entered the left turn lane for Buckley Blvd. with a flashing red arrow, said Pepper. The Jeep proceeded through the intersection and directly into the path of the motorcycle, according to Pepper. The motorcycle collided with the right front side of the Jeep causing the operator to be ejected. The driver of the Jeep came to a controlled stop and remained at the scene.
The motorcycle operator was transported to the Christiana Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
The driver and passenger of the Jeep, were properly restrained and were not injured.
Pulaski Hwy. eastbound at Buckley Blvd. was closed for approximately 3 hours while the scene was investigated and cleared.
