Wilmington Police have arrested a 15-year-old male in connection with a fatal shooting incident that took place in April.
On April 28, 2020, at approximately 5:08 p.m., police were called to the 100 block of Ashton Place, where they located a 13-year-old boy who had sustained a gunshot wound. The young boy was transported to the hospital and later succumbed to his injuries.
Police said that the incident was determined to have been a fatal shooting incident and that the firearm was recovered during the initial investigation.
The case was assigned to Detective Brandon Mosley of the Criminal Investigations Division. Through the course of his investigation, Detective Mosley identified a 15-year-old male as a suspect.
The 15-year-old was taken into custody on May 13 and was charged with Murder (2nd Degree), Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited, Tampering with Physical Evidence, and
Providing a False Statement to Law Enforcement.
He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the New Castle County Detention Center on $57,000 cash-only bail.
Police also arrested a 14-year-old male, who was charged with Providing a False Statement to Law Enforcement. He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and released on $500 unsecured bail.

Wilmington Police are investigating what has now been determined to have been a fatal shooting incident, which occurred at approximately 5:08 p.m. Tuesday in the 100 block of Ashton Place.
Police located a 13-year-old male gunshot victim who was transported to the hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.
