Firefighters Battle Three Alarm Apartment Fire In Newark Monday

Just after 7;00 Monday night firefighters from New Castle County responded to 1212 N Barrett Run Drive, the Retreat at the Village of Barrett’s Run Apartments, for reports of an apartment fire.

When firefighters arrived on scene they reported heavy fire showing from the third floor. Shortly after crews arrived on scene Command struck a second alarm, which brought additional resources.

As crews search the apartment building for potential victims that reported that the primary search is negative. Noe patients were in the building.

Minutes after arrival, at 7:20, Command ordered a complete evacuation of the building. All firefighters were ordered out of the building.  Just two minutes later Command struck a third alarm.

At last report, 9:00, firefighters remain on scene mopping up hotspots and helping residents grab items from their apartments.

We will have a full report tomorrow.
