Just In: Driver Killed In Fiery Crash Near Greenville Friday Morning

Greenville – At around 5:45 this morning rescue crews from the Cranston Heights and Elsmere Fire Companies respond to Route 141 at Kennet Pike for reports of a vehicle accident with entrapment.

While en route to the scene crews learned that police on scene were advising that the vehicle was on fire and they were unable to get the driver out.

Shortly after that report, crews learned that officers were attempting to put the fire out with extinguishers.

Initial reports from the scene indicate that the driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

State Police released the following statement “The Delaware State Police are currently on scene of a serious crash that occurred at approximately 5:51 a.m., on July 10, 2020.

As a result of this crash and ongoing investigation, southbound SR 141 at Kennett Pike is closed at this time.

Motorists will experience delays in the area and are advised to seek alternate routes of travel.”

Rescue crews cleared the scene just before 9:00 am. Police remain on scene.
