A Wilmington Police investigation has resulted in an arrest in connection with a February 2020 murder.
On February 16, 2020, at approximately 10:03 p.m. police responded to the 800 block of Adams Street in response to a shooting that had occurred. A victim arrived at the hospital while officers were on scene. The victim, identified as 22-year-old Wade Hammond, was later pronounced dead.
The case was assigned to Detective Steven Bender of the Criminal Investigations Division. Through the course of his investigation, Detective Bender identified 19-year-old Marquis Crews-Foster as a suspect in the murder of Wade Hammond, officials said Wednesday.

On July 13, Detective Bender presented the case to a New Castle County Grand Jury, which returned an indictment on the following charges:
Murder (First Degree)
Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited
Crews-Foster was arraigned in the New Castle County Superior Court and given $1,000,000 cash-only bail. He was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution.

Wilmington – Rescue crews from the Wilmington Fire Department along Wilmington Police and County Medics have responded to the 800 block of N Adams Street for a shooting.
Crews have alerted a local trauma center that they are en route with a trauma patient.
