A task force comprised of local police and federal officers make arrests in Middletown.
On July 13, 2020, the Middletown Police Department was contacted by a victim who reported a firearm being stolen by two suspects while on E. Cole Blvd, according to Middletown Police Lieutenant Thomas Lancaster.
Lancaster said on July 15, 2020, the Middletown Police Department was dispatched to the unit block of Bonnybrook Road in reference to a second report of thefts of firearms. In this incident, it was determined that three suspects removed two firearms from a residence.
The Middletown Police Department’s Criminal Investigative Unit identified three suspects involved in the above thefts. The suspects, Najee Chambers, Amir Lloyd, and a 15-year-old juvenile are all residents of the same street in Middletown, according to police.
As a result of the investigation, three search warrants were executed at each of the suspect’s residences on July 17, 2020, with the assistance of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms along with the officers with New Castle County Police Department.
With the assistance of these agencies and the Northeast Maryland Police Department, all three suspects were taken into custody. Two of the stolen firearms were recovered and $3,605 in suspected drug money was seized, according to Lancaster.
Najee Chambers was charged with Theft of a Firearm (3 counts) and Conspiracy 2nd (2 counts). He was arraigned by the Justice of the Peace Court 2 and released on $62,000 unsecured bail.
Amir Lloyd was charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited, Theft of a Firearm (2 counts) and Conspiracy 2nd. He was arraigned by the Justice of the Peace Court 2 and released on $3,500 unsecured bail.
The 15-year-old juvenile was charged with Theft of a Firearm (2 counts) and Conspiracy 2nd. He was arraigned by the Justice of the Peace Court 11 and released to his parents.
