New Castle County Police have identified the man that was shot and killed at Rosegate Park on July 4th as 31-year-old Kirk Flowers.
“I extend condolences to the family of Mr. Flowers. Once again, I am saddened at the senseless loss of life and the endangering of several more lives. Since this tragic event occurred our agency has been tirelessly working to identify the suspect (s) responsible for killing Mr. Flowers and injuring two others. However, we will not be able to do this alone, we will need the help of the community. Therefore, we are asking anyone with information regarding this homicide to contact the New Castle County Police Department or Crime Stoppers. Remember this information can be provided anonymously. Last evening, July 4th, Officers from New Castle County Police (NCCPD) were notified that three adult males suffering gunshot wounds had been transported to a local hospital.
Officers were able to ascertain that the incident occurred in the community of Rosegate, during a large gathering in the area of Rosegate Park.
Officials did not release the time or actual location, however, First State Update has learned that at least one ambulance was dispatched to the unit block of Thorn Court at 11:09 PM. Thorn Court is about a block away from the park.
NCCPD Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Unit arrived on the scene and assumed the investigation.
As of today, July 5th, officials said one of the victims succumbed to his wounds.
