Lewes – The Delaware State Police have arrested 29-year-old Breanna Verdon of Laurel, DE, and 42-year-old Nakeisha Ammons of Laurel, for Robbery and related charges, according to Public Information Officer, Corporal/1 Jason Hatchell.
Hatchell said on Wednesday, July 15, 2020, at approximately 3:45 p.m., the Delaware State Police responded to a reported robbery at the Home Depot located at 17832 Coastal Highway, Lewes. Upon arrival, Troopers contacted a 49-year-old female victim/store employee from Lewes who was assaulted as a result of the incident, said Hatchell.
The investigation revealed Nakeisha loaded a shopping cart up with merchandise, and exited the store through the Garden Center doors without paying, according to Hatchell. The 49-year-old victim asked Nakeisha for her receipt as she exited the store, but Nakeisha ignored her and walked to her vehicle in the parking lot.
The store employee followed Nakeisha to her vehicle and advised she was not getting away with all the stolen merchandise. Breanna Verdon who was waiting for Nakeisha in the parking lot with the trunk of the vehicle open, then physically assaulted the victim, according to Hatchell.
Witnesses were able to obtain a good description of the vehicle and both suspects. The employee sustained a small laceration to her eye during the incident but did not require medical treatment. Troopers obtained arrest warrants for Nakeisha and Breanna.
On July 20, 2020, Nakeisha and Breanna were apprehended by Laurel Police at their residence in Laurel. They were transported back to Seaford Police Headquarters where they were charged from the initial incident with the following:
Robbery 2nd Degree (felony)
Conspiracy 2nd Degree (felony)
Shoplifting
Breanna was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court and released on $7,000 unsecured bond.
Nakeisha was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court and released on $7,500 unsecured bond.
