Teen Shot As He Walked Along Edgemoor Road

Wilmington– Delaware State Police are investigating a shooting that occurred on Edgemoor Road in Wilmington early Monday morning, according to Public Information Officer, Senior Corporal Heather Pepper.

Pepper said at approximately 1:44 a.m., Monday, August 24, 2020, Troopers responded to Edgemoor Road in Wilmington, for a shooting. Upon arrival, a 17-year-old male was located with a single gunshot wound to his left leg. He was subsequently transported to an area hospital where he is being treated for the gunshot wound.

The initial investigation determined the male victim was walking alone on Edgemoor Road when an individual riding on Edgemoor Road shot him, according to Pepper.

The only suspect information known at this time is the suspect is believed to be a male occupying the rear seat in a dark-colored SUV.

The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact Detective J. Dempsey of the Troop 2 Criminal Investigations Unit by calling 302-365-8510.
