Wilmington Police have arrested and charged a 38-year-old Chester man in connection with a fatal shooting incident that occurred in June.
On June 25 at approximately 1:20 a.m., police were dispatched to the 300 block of East 13th Street in reference to a shooting incident that occurred. Police located a 33-year-old female gunshot victim and a 36-year-old male gunshot victim, and both were transported to the hospital in critical condition. The male victim later succumbed to his injuries and was identified as Vincent Flowers of Brookhaven, Pennsylvania.
The case was assigned to Detective Justin Kane of the Criminal Investigations Division. Through the course of his investigation, Detective Kane identified 38-year-old Dashan Freeman of Chester, Pennsylvania, as a suspect, officials said Thursday.
The case was presented on August 24 to a New Castle County Grand Jury, which returned an indictment. Freeman was located and taken into custody on September 23, and has been charged with the following offenses:
Murder (First Degree)
Assault (First Degree)
Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
Burglary (First Degree)
Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited
He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $1,190,000 cash-only bail.
