Newark Exxon Robbed At Gunpoint Early Tuesday

Newark – The Delaware State Police are investigating the robbery of a Newark area gas station that occurred early this morning, according to Public Information Officer, Corporal/1 Jason Hatchell.

Hatchell said the incident occurred at approximately 12:27 a.m., Tuesday, September 22, 2020, at the Exxon Gas Station, located at 263 East Chestnut Hill Road, Newark. A male suspect confronted an employee at the sales counter while displaying a handgun, and demanded money from inside of the register. The employee complied with the demand and turned over an undisclosed amount of cash to the suspect, who then fled on foot in an unknown direction. The employee was not injured as a result of the incident.

The suspect was described as a male approximately 5’6”- 5’10” tall, wearing all dark-colored clothing, and a mask.
