Pedestrian Struck And Killed In New Castle Late Wednesday

New Castle– Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal pedestrian accident that occurred on September 2, 2020, at approximately 11:15 p.m., according to Public Information Officer, Senior Corporal Heather Pepper.

Pepper said the initial investigation has determined a 2012 Porsche Panamera operated by a 30-year-old female of Wilmington was traveling westbound on Christiana Road (Route 273) entering the right turn lane for the ramp to Delaware State Route 1 northbound. The 36-year-old male pedestrian of New Castle entered the right turn lane from the north edge of the roadway into the path of the Porsche. As a result, the front right of Porsche collided with the pedestrian. The Porsche came to a controlled stop in the right turn lane several feet after impact. The operator was not injured during the collision.

Identification is pending notification of next to kin.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information regarding the crash is asked to contact Cpl. Forester of the Troop 2 Collision Reconstruction Unit by calling 302-365.8485.

The roadway was closed for approximately 2 hours while the scene was investigated and cleared.
