“Today the members of the New Castle County Division of Police are blessed that we are not planning the funerals for two officers that were shot at last night while providing police services in Glasgow Pines.”, stated Colonel Vaughn M. Bond, Jr. “The apprehension of this dangerous suspect is the number one priority for our agency, and we will aggressively pursue every lead until he is in custody. To the suspect, I strongly encourage you to immediately turn yourself in. If any of our community members have information on the suspect’s whereabouts, we ask that you notify the New Castle County Police.
Hours prior to the attempted murder of our officers, members from our department spent several hours in the community of Edgemoor Gardens assisting with their annual Cleanup Day. Later in the afternoon, we spent several hours in the community of Sparrow Run providing book bags and lunches to over 200 children from the community. I can assure you that the cowardly acts of this suspect will not distract us from initiating or participating in events such as these to better the communities we serve.”
Khairon Edwards is a black male, 5’06, and approximately 145 lbs. He is considered to be armed and dangerous. If located, members of the community are advised to avoid contact with him and call 911.
