Police: Unsecured Bond Puts Burglary Suspect Back On Street, Arrested Again

The Dover Police Department has arrested Brian Bower, 34,  for two burglaries that occurred on Wednesday morning, according to Dover Police Department Public Information Office Sergeant Mark Hoffman.

Hoffman said at approximately 12:39 a.m. Bowers used a brick to break a window and enter the Caribbean market at 239 West Loockerman Street.  Once inside, Bower removed approximately $1,500 in property and fled.  Bower then proceeded to PNC Bank at 3 The Plaza and used a sledgehammer and crowbar to damage and enter an ATM.  Bower was unable to steal money from the ATM, but caused approximately $20,000 in damage to the machine, according to Hoffman. Following the PNC Bank incident, Bower returned to the Caribbean Market and once again removed miscellaneous items from the business, added Hoffman.

Detectives were able to identify Bower as the suspect in both cases based on a review of video surveillance.  Bower was arrested in the downtown area on the morning of September 16th without incident.

Bower was released on an unsecured bond on the following charges:
-Burglary 2nd Degree(2x)
-Criminal Mischief (2x)
-Theft Under $1,500
-Possession of Burglary Tools
-Attempted Theft

Bower will be committed to SCI on a Violation of Probation as a result of this latest incident.
