Wilmington– Delaware State Police have identified the two individuals who died in a crash on September 18, 2020, on eastbound Kirkwood Highway (Rt. 2) east of Rt. 41, Wilmington, as 52-year-old Arthur Bell Jr. of Bear and 62-year-old Lottie Lee of Wilmington.

Wilmington– The Delaware State Police are investigating a double fatal motor vehicle collision that occurred last evening, according to Public Information Officer, Corporal/1 Jason Hatchell.
Hatchell said the incident occurred on September 18, 2020, at approximately 9:08 p.m., when a 2000 Chevrolet Blazer was traveling westbound on Kirkwood Highway (Rt.2) east of Rt. 41, and crossed over the median into the eastbound lanes of Kirkwood Highway. The Blazer drove directly into the path of a 2018 Jeep Renegade that was traveling in the center lane of eastbound Kirkwood Highway. The Blazer struck the front of the Jeep for a head-on collision. Both operators had to be extricated from their vehicles as a result of the crash.
The operator of the Blazer, a 52-year-old male from Bear, DE was properly restrained and transported to Christiana Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Both names are being withheld at this time pending the notifications of next of kin.
Eastbound Kirkwood Highway was closed for approximately 4 hours while the crash was investigated and cleared.

On September 18, 2020, at 21:07, multiple New Castle County Paramedic units, along with rescue crews from Cranston Heights Fire Company, Mill Creek Fire Company, Elsmere Fire Company, and Belvedere Fire Company, were alerted to a motor vehicle collision with reports of entrapment, according to Paramedic Senior Corporal Ruoy L. Koontz.
Koontz said the incident occurred on Kirkwood Highway at Newport Gap Pike. On arrival, a total of two patients were found trapped in their vehicles, both requiring advanced life support care. After a short period of time, both patients were extricated by on-scene rescue crews.
Patient one, a 55 year-old-male, suffered significant injuries to the upper and lower extremities, as well as possible internal injuries. He was transported via Mill Creek Fire Company ambulance. Patient one was in critical, but stable condition at the time of transport.
Patient two, an adult aged female, was treated on scene for life-threatening injuries. She was transported via Belvedere Fire Company ambulance in critical condition at the time of transport.
Both patients were treated on scene and accompanied by New Castle County Paramedic during transport to Christiana Hospital Emergency Room. Delaware State Police is investigating the crash.
