Happening Now: Troopers Investigating Fatal Crash, Route 273 WB Closed

Newark – Delaware State Police are on the scene of a fatal motor vehicle crash involving a trash truck that occurred at approximately 6:13 a.m., Tuesday, October 27, 2020, on Route 273 in the area of South Harmony Road.

As a result of the crash, all lanes of westbound Route 273 are closed. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and seek alternate routes of travel. The road closure is anticipated to be lengthy, with no estimated time for a re-opening.

Video from the scene shows a small sedan with heavy front end damage. It appears that the car slammed into the rear of the garbage truck at speed.
