Detectives from the New Castle County Division of Police are investigating a shooting in the community of Gordon Heights, according to spokesman G. LopezGarcia.
LopezGarcia said that at approximately 6:00 P.M. on Friday, October 9, Officers from the New Castle County Division of Police responded to the unit block of Haines Avenue, in the community of Gordon Heights, for a shooting that just occurred.
When the officers arrived, they discovered a 25-year-old male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. New Castle County Paramedics arrived at the scene and quickly began administering life-saving efforts. The victim was then transported to a local area hospital and is currently listed in critical condition.
Radio reports indicate that a tree was struck by a vehicle during this incident. It’s not clear if it was the victim that struck the tree.
Detectives from the New Castle County Division of Police Criminal Investigations Unit have assumed the investigation.
