Pedestrian Struck And Killed Near Felton Wednesday

Felton- Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal pedestrian accident that occurred last night in the Felton area, according to Public Information Officer, Master Corporal Heather Pepper.

Pepper said on September 30, 2020, at approximately 8:00 p.m., a 2000 Dodge Dakota operated by a 28-year-old man from Felton, was traveling southbound on US 13 in the left lane of travel, approaching Bork Drive. The 65-year-old male pedestrian from Felton, who was wearing dark clothing was reported to be lying in the roadway, in the southbound lane, in the same area. The operator failed to see the pedestrian lying in the roadway and subsequently hit him, said Pepper. After the collision, the Dakota came to a controlled stop and waited on scene.

The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene. Identification is pending notification of next to kin.

The operator was not injured in the accident.

US 13 southbound was closed for approximately 3.5 hours during the investigation.
