Two Employees Held At Gunpoint At Naamans Road Store Tuesday

Claymont- The Delaware State Police are investigating a robbery that occurred at a Dollar General located in Claymont, DE.

The incident occurred on December 15, 2020, at approximately 9:01 p.m. when Troopers were dispatched to the Dollar General located at 333 Naamans Road, Claymont for a report of a robbery.

Upon arrival, it was learned that a male suspect entered the store and approached the sales counter appearing to make a purchase. The suspect displayed a handgun at an employee standing near the sales counter and demanded cash from the safe, officials said Wednesday.

The suspect forced the victim to the rear of the sales counter where a second employee was working behind the cash register. The suspect held the two employees/victims at gunpoint while they attempted to open the safe. The victims complied but were unsuccessful at opening the safe. The suspect then fled the scene on foot towards Hickman Drive.

There were no injuries as a result of the incident.

The suspect was described as a male wearing a black jacket and light colored pants.

Troopers searched the surrounding area for over an hour, even calling in Delaware State Police Aviation’s Trooper 4 to assist.
