Earlier this morning, Saturday, January 30, 2021, patrol officers from the New Castle County Division of Police were dispatched to the unit block of 3rd Avenue in the community of Overlook Colony for a report of a shooting that just occurred, according to Spokesman G. LopezGarcia.
LopezGarcia said when the officers arrived, they found a female victim suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local area hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.
Initial radio reports that there was a second victim in front of Claymont Fire Company station were unfounded.
LopezGarcia said Detectives from the New Castle County Division of Police Criminal Investigations Unit have assumed the investigation.
