Driver Succumbs To Injuries Suffered In January Accident

On Monday, January 25th, Dover Police officers responded to the area of Scarborough Road, approximately 1,650 feet north of McKee Road for a single-vehicle collision at 1:16 a.m., according to Public Information Office Sergeant Mark Hoffman.

Hoffman said the driver, Leroy Reed (45) of Dover, was transported to Kent General Hospital in serious but stable condition as the result of injuries sustained in the crash. The accident investigation showed that Reed was driving north on Scarborough Road, approaching the bridge when the vehicle entered the northbound shoulder and struck a guard rail.

The vehicle then crossed into the southbound lane of travel, striking a curb, exiting the roadway, and colliding with another guard rail. Reed was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

On January 31st, 2021, Reed died while hospitalized as a result of the injuries sustained in the crash.
