Ocean View Police have charged a Millsboro woman with forgery and related charges, according to Chief Kenneth McLaughlin.
McLaughlin said on February 17, 2021, officers from the Ocean View Police Department were contacted by a 96-year-old resident of Ocean View regarding an alarming telephone call the victim had received from her bank.
Responding officers learned that County Bank officials had called the victim regarding suspicious activity related to the victim’s checking account. As police investigated they learned that the victim hired Brittany L. Robinson, 29, of Millsboro, to clean the victim’s home. McLaughlin said while at the victim’s home, Robinson removed several checks from the victim’s checkbook and passed them at area banks.
Police obtained arrest warrants for Robinson charging her with:
3 counts of Theft Under $1500 Where the Victim is 62 Years or Older,
1 count of Attempt to Commit Theft Under $1500 Where Victim is 62 Years or Older,
2 counts of Forgery Second Degree.
McLaughlin said on February 19, 2021, officers learned that Robinson was at the Justice of The Peace Court #3 in Georgetown on an unrelated matter. Officers responded to the court and arrested Robinson.
Robinson was released on a $12,000 unsecured bond pending a Preliminary Hearing in the Sussex CountyCourt of Common Pleas.
