Felton– Delaware State Police is investigating a single fatal motor vehicle collision that occurred late Tuesday night, according to Public Information Officer, Master Corporal Heather Pepper.
Pepper said on February 23, 2021, at approximately 11:00 p.m., a 2003 Honda Accord was traveling southbound on Canterbury Road south of Roesville Road, approaching the Coursey Pond boat ramp. The 29-year-old male operator of Ellendale failed to negotiate the curve in the roadway and lost control of the vehicle, according to Pepper. The Honda crossed over the northbound lane and shoulder, exited the east edge of the road, and drove in an uncontrolled manner through a grassy embankment and over several driveway entrances. The vehicle steered back towards Canterbury Road before it began to roll several times and came to rest on Canterbury Road on its roof.
The 29-year-old male operator was pronounced deceased at the scene. Identification is pending notification to next of kin.
Canterbury Road was closed for approximately 4 hours while the investigation was completed, and the roadway was cleared.
