Reports That Harrington Shooting Victim Has Succumbed Not Confirmed

The woman shot while driving along Route 14 between Harrington and Milford has reportedly succumbed to her injuries.

A Facebook post by the woman’s mother at 1:30 pm on Friday said “My Baby has gone off to be with the Lord …REST in Peace”. The mother had warned that her daughter was gravely ill in a previous post.

Delaware State Police have not confirmed that the victim of Wednesday’s shooting has succumbed at this point. This is a developing story

Harrington- The Delaware State Police Homicide Unit continues to investigate the Harrington-area shooting incident that occurred on Wednesday, March 31, 2021, at approximately 3:13 pm, according to Public Information Officer, Master Corporal Heather Pepper.

Pepper said the victim, a 20-year-old female from Milford, was driving westbound on Milford Harrington Highway (DE 14) in the area of Sandbox Road when an unknown suspect in a dark SUV crossed the double yellow line and pulled alongside her vehicle. The suspect then fired a gun numerous times into the victim’s vehicle before fleeing the scene, said Pepper. The victim’s vehicle left the roadway and came to rest in a field. The victim suffered a gunshot wound to her upper body and was transported by ambulance to an area hospital in critical condition.

Pepper said at this time, it is not believed that this was a random incident, however, she did not indicate why investigators believe this to be the case.

Harrington– Delaware State Police are currently investigating a shooting incident that occurred Wednesday afternoon, according to Public Information Officer, Master Corporal Heather Pepper.

Pepper said on March 31, 2021, at approximately 3:13 p.m., troopers responded to Milford Harrington Highway in the area of Sandbox Road for a reported shooting. Upon arrival, troopers discovered a single victim had been shot. The victim was provided medical attention at the scene and transported to an area hospital by ambulance in critical condition.

First State Update first told you that rescue crews responded to Milford-Harrington Highway for reports of a rollover crash with multiple people reported injured and that dispatchers alerted responding crews that there were reports of shots fired prior to the crash.

First arriving responders confirmed at least one subject was shot in the head. That patient, believed to be a young woman, was transported as a Priority 1 patient, the most serious.

Milford Harrington Highway was closed for approximately 4 hours while the incident was investigated.
