Rollover Crash Closes Maryland Avenue Sunday Evening

Just after 8:30, Sunday evening rescue crews from the Five Points Fire Company heard a loud crash just down the street from their station.

Crews responded to the area of West Summit Avenue at South Maryland Avenue where they found a two-vehicle crash with patients trapped in both vehicles.

Upon arrival, crews began working to free the patients. Command then requested medics, an additional rescue squad. and fire police to assist.

As a result of the crash, one of the vehicles had overturned and came to rest near the front porch of a home.

Shortly after arrival Command reported that both patients had been freed and recalled the additional rescue squad, according to radio traffic.

Around 15 minutes after arrival Command placed the incident under control and alerted dispatch that Maryland Avenue would be shut down for an extended period of time.

No word on injuries at this time.
