Suspect Arrested In Shooting Death Of Newark Man Gunned Down In March

A Wilmington Police investigation has resulted in the arrest of a man in connection with a March 16 fatal shooting incident, officials said Friday.

Police said on March 16, 2021, at approximately 8:34 p.m., police were dispatched to the 700 block of North Washington Street in reference to a shooting incident that had occurred. Police located a 28-year-old male gunshot victim who was transported to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. He was identified as Demier Chambers of Newark.

The case was assigned to Detective Brianna Rodrigues of the WPD Criminal Investigations Division. Through the course of her investigation, Detective Rodrigues identified 21-year-old Treasure Parsons as a suspect in the incident, according to police. A search warrant was obtained and was executed on April 15 with the assistance of the Crisis Management Tactical Team.

Parsons was taken into custody without incident, and has been charged with the following offenses:

Murder (First Degree)
Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited
Conspiracy (First Degree)

Parsons was arraigned in JP Court 20 and was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $2,005,000 cash-only bail.
