Man Shot At Fried Chicken Joint Parking Lot In New Castle

New Castle – Delaware State Police are investigating a shooting incident that occurred yesterday evening that left one man wounded, according to Public Information Officer, Master Corporal Gary Fournier.

Fournier on Saturday, May 22, 2021, at approximately 4:30 p.m., Troopers were notified by Christiana Hospital staff that a male subject checked into the Emergency Department with a gunshot wound to the upper torso. Detectives learned through the investigation that the 24-year-old male, of Newark, DE, was walking through the parking lot of New York Fried Chicken, located at 3900 N. DuPont Highway when a black male began shooting at him numerous times. After the suspect shot at the victim, the suspect ran towards Memorial Drive. The victim was struck once in the upper torso and was transported by a private vehicle to the hospital where he was treated and released with non-life-threatening injuries.

Troopers located eleven shell casings at the scene.

The suspect was only described as a black male wearing light-colored pants, a black T-shirt, and a dark mask covering his face. There were no other reported injuries.
