Bomb Threat, Impersonation, Off The Charts Shoplifting Just Part Of Delaware’s Crime Problem

Who knew? Within the last several weeks hundreds of criminal offenses have occurred in New Castle County (NCC) alone.

While we have a pretty good idea of the number of shootings and homicides in NCC many of the other crimes have gone unnoticed until now.

During that time there was a bomb threat at Skyline Middle School that went unreported, there were two incidents of impersonation, and police responded to at least 60 shoplifting incidents. And that’s just to name a few.  Take a look at the list below to see the full report. We selected a small area of Delaware State Police and Newark Police patrol areas to look at the data.  Looking at a wider area will likely show that the numbers for each incident type are much higher.

We have posted some of the data on our Delaware Open Data Map below.  Due to the way police agencies report the data some of the icons may be posted in the wrong location. The list under the map is a better resource for the actual location. Some incidents such as DUIs are not posted due to incomplete location data.
