Drug, Organized Crime, And Vice Division Make Multiple Arrests In Wilmington

Wilmington Police have made several gun and drug arrests following an investigation, officials said Monday.

Authorities said on June 22 at approximately 7:35 a.m. members of the Drug, Organized Crime, and Vice Division executed search warrants in the 1100 block of B Street and 2500 block of Bowers Street following an investigation.

Police made contact with 60-year-old Donald Harrison and 26-year-old Channeisha Portis, who was wanted on an unrelated matter. Both subjects were taken into custody without incident. Shabazz Walston, 37, who also had an outstanding warrant, attempted to flee on foot but was quickly taken into custody.

Police recovered a 9mm handgun, a 9mm rifle, a stolen .380 caliber handgun, 8 grams of cocaine, 1.932 grams of heroin, 26 Oxycodone pills, 19.5 grams of marijuana, additional ammunition, $1,782 in currency, and drug paraphernalia, according to authorities.

Walston was charged with the following offenses in addition to his outstanding warrant:
Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony (2 counts)
Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person Prohibited (4 counts)
Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Intent to Deliver (3 counts)
Possession of a Firearm While Also in Possession of a Controlled Substance
Receiving a Stolen Firearm
Possession of a Controlled Substance in Tier 1 Quantity (3 counts)
Conspiracy 2nd Degree
Resisting Arrest
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
Possession of Marijuana
He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $225,251 cash-only bail.

Harrison was charged with the following offenses:
Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony (3 counts)
Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person Prohibited (6 counts)
Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Intent to Deliver
Possession of a Firearm While also in Possession of a Controlled Substance
Possession of a Controlled Substance in Tier 1 Quantity
Conspiracy 2nd Degree
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $145,100 cash-only bail.

Portis was processed on her outstanding warrant.

She was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the Dolores J. Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution.
