Investigators: Fire That Destroyed Greenwood Bar, Injured Firefighter Was Arson

The Delaware Office of the State Fire Marshal is conducting an arson investigation into a building fire that heavily damaged a structure in Greenwood, Delaware on May 18, 2021,  according to Chief Deputy State Fire Marshal John Galaska.

Galaska said the fire, reported shortly after 3:00 A.M., occurred to the structure in the first block of West Market Street. The location is known as The Pit Stop Bar and Grill.

State fire investigators have determined that the fire that caused an estimated at $500,000 and injured a firefighter was intentionally started, according to Galaska. The firefighter was transported from the scene for minor injuries, added Galaska.
