Townsend – Delaware State Police have identified the two individuals who died in a motorcycle collision on Monday. Officials said 68-year-old Joseph Sturek and 63-year-old Deborah Sturek both of Middletown succumbed to their injuries suffered in the accident.

Townsend – The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating a double fatal motorcycle crash that occurred on Green Giant Road last night, according to Public Information Officer, Corporal/1 Jason Hatchell.
Hatchell said the incident occurred at approximately 9:28 p.m., on Monday, May 31, 2021. The 2015 Harley Davidson motorcycle, being operated by a 68-year-old Middletown man and a 63-year-old Middletown woman, his passenger was traveling westbound on Green Giant Road from the intersection at Summit Bridge Road.
A 2007 Chrysler Town and Country was traveling eastbound on Green Giant Road heading in the direction of the intersection with Summit Bridge Road. The Chrysler crossed over the solid, double yellow line to pass another, uninvolved vehicle and struck the front of the Harley Davidson, according to Hatchell. Both the operator and passenger were ejected from the motorcycle.
The 68-year-old male operator of the motorcycle was pronounced deceased at the scene. The 63-year-old female passenger was transported by ambulance to Christiana Hospital where she was later pronounced deceased. Identification for both victims is pending notification to the next of kin.
The 18-year-old male operator of the Chrysler was properly restrained and did not sustain any injuries. Impairment is not considered a factor, said Hatchell.
Green Giant Road between Wiggins Mill Road and Summit Bridge Road was closed for approximately 4 hours while the crash was investigated and cleared. The investigation into this collision is ongoing.
