At approximately 11:17 a.m. the New Castle County Paramedics (NCCEMS), Elsmere Fire Company, and Delaware State Police Aviation (Trooper 4) were dispatched to the 800 block of North DuPont Road for a motor vehicle collision with reports of a subject trapped, according to NCCEMS Spokeswoman S/Sergeant Abigail Haas.
Haas said New Castle County Paramedics arrived on scene to find a single-vehicle collision with a mid-sized sedan into a tree. The driver of the sedan, a 56-year-old female was out of her vehicle prior to emergency personnel arriving on scene. She was treated on scene by the New Castle County Paramedics for serious chest and abdominal injuries before she was transported to the Christiana Hospital, in Stanton, in critical condition. The patient was transported by Delaware State Police aircraft (Trooper 4).
New Castle County Police is investigating.
Breaking Report
Just before 11:15 Friday morning rescue crews from the Elsmere and Cranston Fire Companies along with New Castle County Paramedics and Police and Trooper 4 were dispatched to the 800 N DuPont Road for reports of a vehicle accident with entrapment.
While en route crews learned the accident was on the Ed Oliver Golf Club course. First Arriving reported that the driver was not trapped and recalled the Cranston Heights rescue.
Shortly after recalling Cranston Heights, Elsmere Command alerted dispatch that Trooper 4 would be utilized for transport and advised the pilot to land on the nearby golf course.
Crews on scene treated that patient prior to loading them onto Trooper 4 for transport to Christiana Hospital with undetermined injuries.
