Just before 7:45, Friday morning rescue crews from the Mill Creek Fire Company were alerted to an accident on Kirkwood Highway at Woodmill Drive.
While en route to the crash, crews learned that one patient may be trapped. A short time later Good Samaritans on the scene reported to 911 call takers that one of the vehicles was on fire.
First to arrive on scene was a Mill Creek ambulance. While one of the EMTs grabbed their gear the other grabbed a large fire extinguisher and ran to the burning truck. Within seconds firefighters were also on scene and assisted in bringing the fire under control.
Images from the crash scene depict a very serious crash. At least two patients have been transported to the trauma center. The condition of a third patient has not been confirmed by authorities.
The eastbound lanes of Kirkwood Highway have been closed at Milltown Road. Expect the road to be closed for the next several hours.
