Heavy Delays Route 1 SB Due To Rollover Crash With Ejection

At approximately 3:18 p.m. the New Castle County Paramedics, Odessa Fire Company, Townsend Fire Company, and Delaware State Police Aviation (Trooper 4) were dispatched to State Route 1
for a motor vehicle collision with a vehicle overturned and reports of a subject ejected, according to NCCEMS S/Sergeant Abigail Haas.

New Castle County Paramedics arrived in the area of the Appoqunimink River Bridge to find a mid-sized sedan in the median and overturned with one patient ejected and two others ambulatory on scene. An approximately 80-year-old woman was found outside of the vehicle with internal injuries.

She was transported to Christiana Hospital in critical condition via Trooper 4 with New Castle County Paramedics accompanying. Two other occupants of the vehicle, a male and female, both 61 years of age, were assessed by county paramedics and refused any further medical treatment or transport.

Delaware State Police is investigating the incident.
