Newark Police Identify Man Killed In Motorcycle Crash Tuesday

Just after 6;00 Tuesday evening Newark Police responded to the intersection of Library Avenue and Wyoming Road for a report of a crash involving a motorcycle, according to Lt. Andrew Rubin.

Rubin said the investigation at the scene determined that a 2005 Yamaha motorcycle was traveling southbound in the straight lane on Library Avenue, approaching the intersection with Wyoming Road. A 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee, operated by a 66-year-old Newark woman, was traveling northbound in the left turn lane on Library Avenue approaching Wyoming Road.

The Jeep turned left in front of the motorcycle and the motorcycle collided with the Jeep, according to Rubin. The operator of the motorcycle, who was wearing a helmet, was pronounced dead at the scene. The operator of the Jeep was not injured. Impairment is not a factor on the part of either driver, said Rubin.

The intersection and connected roadways were closed for about four hours while police investigated the crash.

The motorcycle operator has been identified as Kevin Random Jr., 26, of Dover.
