The Capital School District superintendent announced on Monday that schools will be virtual during the Firefly Music Festival. The announcement was made in a video and in a statement on the district’s Facebook page.
Dear Senator Nation,
We recently learned that one of our bus contractors would no longer be able to provide services for Capital School District students.
As a result, Capital School District had to adjust our schools’ start and end times to create transportation schedules that would allow our bus drivers to transport the students that have traditionally been transported by our partnering bus contractors. We apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause you.
In addition, due to transportation concerns and anticipated traffic delays, we are planning to convene two virtual days of learning for all students during the annual Firefly concert on Thursday, September 23 and Friday, September 24.
Please be prepared for your child to participate in live learning at-home. Our bus drivers are doing multiple routes (to cover routes returned to the district by partnering bus contractors). This proactive approach is to safeguard the safety and wellbeing of all students and staff and to frontload childcare needs.
Bus routes will be published on the district website and social media by August 26th. The schedule listed below shows an overview of the start and end times for all schools in Capital School District. Additional communication will be sent from your child’s principal to address the unique needs found within each of our schools. Please do not hesitate to contact your child’s principal to answer any questions or to discuss specific concerns.
In advance, thank you for your continued support and patience.
Sincerely,
Dr. Vilicia Cade
