AAA cautions Firefly attendees to make sure they call AAA for assistance on the campgrounds or risk getting charged. AAA will again provide free roadside assistance to attendees of the Firefly Music Festival.
“AAA is offering free service to all Firefly attendees, whether they are current members of the club or not,” said Ken Grant, Public and Government Affairs Manager for AAA Mid-Atlantic. “We encourage everyone planning on attending Firefly to bring along the AAA number – 1-800-AAA HELP – and call if they find themselves in need of assistance.”
Perry Stanger, Director of Fleet Operations for AAA Mid-Atlantic, says the AAA team helped more than 2,500 motorists at the Firefly Festival between 2016 and 2019.
Based on that experience and its roadside rescue expertise, AAA offers the following top tips for Firefly attendees:
Bring a spare set of keys – AAA can get you back into your locked vehicle, but can’t help you start the vehicle if you lost the keys somewhere on the festival grounds
Fill up your gas tank before entering the campgrounds – some motorists arrive with just a little bit of gas in their tanks, then run out during the four day festival
Bring a spare charger or solar charger for your phone and devices, do not use your vehicle battery to charge your devices
AAA roadside assistance is available to everyone at the festival from 7:00 a.m. – Midnight each day, the number to call is 1-800-AAA HELP (1-800-222-4357)
Stanger says the majority of calls AAA receives at Firefly are for drained batteries, followed by lock-outs and empty gas tanks, with occasional light mechanical work needed to help motorists.
