Bridge Replacement Will Close Section Of Sharpley Road For Months

DelDOT has announced that their contractor, Zack Excavating will begin the replacement of the bridge over Husbands Run on Sharpley Road between Falkirk Road and Whitby Road starting at 7 a.m. on Wednesday, September 29, 2021.

This project involves the replacement of existing multi-plate arch with precast concrete frame; replacement of sidewalk; placement of riprap in the stream for erosion; and reconstruction of the roadway approach. The bridge rehabilitation is anticipated to be complete by Friday, December 31, 2021, pending weather.

Detour Routes:
East of Whitby Road: Motorists traveling eastbound on Sharpley Road are directed to make a left onto US 202 northbound, make another left onto Mt Lebanon Road, and make a third left onto Sharpley Road.

West of Falkirk Road: Motorists traveling westbound on Sharpley Road are directed to make a right onto Mt. Lebanon Road, make another right onto US 202 southbound, and make a third right onto Sharpley Road.

At all times, residents will have access but may need to utilize the posted detour route. Detour signage will be posted for motorists and pedestrians accordingly.
