Police: Man Facing Assault Charge After Victim Was Shot On Saturday

Last Saturday, September 11, 2021 patrol officers from the New Castle County Division of Police were dispatched to the unit block of Blatty Place in the community of Evergreen Apartments at Christiana Reserve for the report of a shooting that had just occurred.

When the officers arrived, they learned that a 30-year-old male victim had been shot but left the scene. He was located by officers on the 600 block of Candlestick Lane in the community of Christiana Green. The victim was transported to a local area hospital with a gunshot wound to his hip, according to police.

Detectives from the New Castle County Division of Police Criminal Investigations Unit arrived at the scene and assumed the investigation. The investigators learned that the victim had driven a female to Blatty Place for a child custody exchange.

When the female exited his vehicle, she was met by another female at the entrance of the apartment building and a fight ensued. The victim ran over and got in between the two fighting females to stop the fight. The victim was unsuccessful, and all three people ended up on the ground.

At this point, 28-year-old Jermaine Boardingham, the second female’s boyfriend, exited the apartment building and fired one round at the victim which struck him in the hip, according to police. Boardingham then fled the scene only to return later and was immediately taken into custody.

He was then transported to police headquarters and charged with one count of felony Assault 1 and one count of felony Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony. He was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 11 and released after posting $30,000 secured bail.
