Woman In Critical Condition After Being Shot Just Blocks From NPD HQ.

Newark Police are investigating a shooting incident that occurred Saturday morning, according to Lt. Andrew Rubin.

Rubin said on October 9, 2021, at about 2:22 in the morning, Newark Police responded to a residence in the 100-block of Madison Drive for a report of loud music and subjects in the street. As officers arrived at the scene, they were advised that there had been a shooting. A short time later, the female victim, suffering from a gunshot wound, arrived at an area hospital by private vehicle.

The initial investigation found that the victim was seated in the driver’s seat of a vehicle in front of the residence when shots were fired from a vehicle driving by. The vehicle was last seen southbound on Elkton Road said Rubin. Multiple shell casings were found at the scene.

The victim was admitted to an area hospital in critical condition.

This investigation is in its early stages and additional information will be released when available.
