Delaware State Police arrested Tevean Nutter, 22, of New Castle, and Giasia Anderson, 21, of Wilmington on multiple traffic, drug, and weapons charges following a pursuit Tuesday night in New Castle, according to Public Information Officer, Senior Corporal Jason Hatchell.
Hatchell said on November 9, 2021, at approximately 9:05 p.m., the Delaware State Police Governor’s Task Force was conducting a proactive patrol in the New Castle area to address recent crime trends. During this time GTF members observed a white Hyundai Sonata in the parking lot of the Wawa located at 4000 N DuPont Highway in New Castle occupied by two subjects who were consuming marijuana said Hatchell. Prior to contact the vehicle exited the parking lot and traveled northbound Route 13. GTF members observed the vehicle fail to maintain a lane and fail to use a turn signal. A traffic stop was initiated, but the Sonata failed to pull over and fled. The vehicle continued to flee committing numerous traffic violations, until it struck a fence post on the 400 block of Joporter Drive, Wilmington. After a struggle with officers, both suspects were taken into custody and identified as Tevean Nutter, operator, and Giasia Anderson, front passenger.
While in custody Anderson continued to combat officers causing damage to a state police vehicle and injuring an officer.
Subsequently, a probable cause search of the vehicle led to the discovery of a load Sig Sauer 9mm handgun, approximately 28.16 grams of marijuana, and over $850 in suspected drug proceeds, added Hatchell.
