Just before 4:00 Friday afternoon rescue crews and police were called to the 300 block of Camerton Lane in the neighborhood of Odessa National for reports of a stabbing.
Crews en route to the scene were first told that three people had been stabbed. Shortly thereafter crews learned of a fourth victim. As part of the emergency response, Delaware State Police Aviation’s Trooper 2 and Trooper 4 were both added to the call.
After accessing the scene crews reported that two patients had succumbed to their wounds, according to sources in law enforcement. Two other patients, believed to be related to the suspect, were airlifted to Christiana Hospital with serious injuries.
As crews were working to treat the victims, officers were pursuing a red Dodge Ram pickup truck that fled the scene. That pursuit ended in a crash at Summit Bridge Road and Bethel Church Road in Middletown. The driver of the truck was transported to Christiana Hospital for injuries suffered in the crash sources tell FSU.
FSU has learned the identity of the driver of the truck and the victims, however, we are withholding the names until authorities release that information. FSU has also learned that driver of the truck has a criminal record in Delaware and was on probation at the time of today’s incident. The driver also had outstanding warrants at the time of this post. We’re also told that the driver of the truck was charged with multiple burglaries earlier this year.
As the incident unfolded many of our readers began messaging us with information from both crime scenes.
Due to the investigation, southbound Summit Bridge Road (SR 896) between Denny Road and Old Summit Bridge in Bear and Fieldsboro Road at Northbound DuPont Parkway (US 13) Townsend are closed.
This is a developing story.
