Police: Man Charged With Shooting Up Neighborhood Tuesday Morning

New Castle County Police have updated a story that FSU first told you about yesterday.

Just before 7:00 on Tuesday morning patrol officers from the New Castle County Division of Police were dispatched to the unit block of East Salisbury Drive in the community of Edgemoore Terrace for the report of a subject walking in the area shooting a handgun, police said Wednesday.

As the officers were en route,  they were notified by dispatch that additional calls were being made reporting gunfire on West Salisbury and South Stuyvesant.  When the officers arrived, they set up a perimeter of the area and were then able to locate the suspect, according to police.   The suspect,  48-year-old Paul Farren, armed with a handgun, complied with the officers’ instructions and was taken into custody without incident.

Detectives investigating the incident found that two residences and multiple vehicles, along West Salisbury and South Stuyvesant, had been struck by gunfire.  Farren also fired rounds inside of his residence before walking outside, according to police.

No civilians or police officers were injured during this incident.

Farren was transported to police headquarters and charged with one count of felony possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, one count of felony Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon (Firearm), eight counts of felony Reckless Endangering First Degree, one count of felony Criminal Mischief over $1000 Damage Property, one count of misdemeanor Criminal Mischief under $1000 Damage Property, and two counts of misdemeanor Criminal Trespass Third Degree.

He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2 and held in lieu of $111,502 cash bail.
