Thursday Afternoon Crash Leaves One Dead In Laurel

Just after 2:30, Thursday afternoon rescue crews from Laurel and surrounding companies responded to 28312 Seaford Road in Laurel for reports of a vehicle accident with entrapment.

Initial reports from the scene indicate that one person was killed in the accident, two others were hospitalized at TidalHealth Nanticoke in serious condition. One of the patients was airlifted to the Christiana Trauma Center according to those familiar with the accident.

Delaware State Police issued the following statement at around 3:30 Thursday afternoon:

“Delaware State Police are on the scene of a serious motor vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 2:42 p.m. this afternoon, December 9, 2021, on Seaford Road at the intersection with Mount Zion Road.

As a result of the crash, Seaford Road is closed at the intersection for emergency response vehicles on scene. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and seek alternate routes of travel. The road closure is anticipated to be lengthy, with no estimated time for a re-opening.”
