Police: Man Pulls Knife In South College Ave. Parking Lot During Attempted Robbery

On Sunday evening, January 30, 2022, at about 6:49, Newark Police responded to the McDonald’s parking lot in the 800-block of South College Avenue for a report of an attempted robbery, according to Lt. Andrew Rubin.

Rubin said the responding officers contacted a male victim in the parking lot. The victim reported that he was in the parking lot and was approached by a male suspect. The suspect displayed a knife and demanded the victim’s property according to Rubin. The victim fled from the suspect without providing any property. The victim was not injured.

The suspect is described as a white male, 5’8″ – 5’9″, 200-230 pounds, beard, and wearing a gray hoody or jacket and blue jeans. He was armed with a folding knife. The suspect was last seen fleeing on foot across South College Avenue. Video from the area shows the suspect in the area of the restaurant prior to the attempted robbery.
