Woman And Good Samaritan Injured In Arundel House Fire

Just before 11:00, Tuesday morning firefighters and medical crews responded to a home in the 1200 block of ElderonDrive in Arundel for an active structure fire with reported injuries.

New Castle County Paramedics PIO Senior Sergeant Abigail Haas said upon the arrival of the medics a 56-year-old female had been removed from the residence, which was on fire. Haas added that a 29-year-old male utility worker aided in the extrication of the woman. The worker was evaluated and transported to the Christiana Hospital for possible smoke inhalation.

The woman was treated by the paramedics for smoke inhalation and burns. She was transported to the Christiana Hospital, in Stanton, in serious condition.

The Delaware Fire Marshal is investigating the incident.
