Good Samaritans Pull Man From Fiery Crash On I-95 Monday

At around 1:10 Monday afternoon rescue crews were alerted to a vehicle accident with reported entrapment with the vehicle on fire.

Initial reports from the scene indicate that the vehicle hit the jersey barrier and burst into flames. The reports also indicate that Good Samaritans and an off-duty Newport firefighter were able to free the driver from the vehicle prior to emergency responders arriving on the scene.

As responders neared the crash they reported a large column of smoke rising from the scene. Once on scene I-95 SB, in the area or route 273, was closed to allow first responders to treat the drive and extinguish the fire.

The driver was transported to Christiana Hosptial via Christiana Fire Company ambulance accompanied by New Castle County Paramedics with undetermined injuries.
