Gunman Leans Out Of Vehicle, Opens Fire On Woman Sitting In Her Car

Delaware State Police are investigating a shooting incident that occurred outside a Wilmington area liquor store Friday night, according to Public Information Officer, Master Corporal Heather Pepper.

Pepper said on February 11, 2022, at approximately 7:38 p.m., troopers were dispatched to Christiana Hospital for an individual who arrived at the Emergency Room with an apparent gunshot wound.

Pepper said the investigation determined the 24-year-old New Castle woman was traveling southbound on Newport Gap Pike when she parked on the right shoulder, directly in front of Ted’s Liquors, located at 1202 Newport Gap Pike. While sitting inside her vehicle, a dark-colored SUV traveling southbound on Newport Gap Pike slowly drove by. At the same time, the front passenger leaned out the SUV’s window and fired multiple rounds in the direction of her vehicle before continuing to travel southbound on Newport Gap Pike. The victim fled the area and was transported by a private vehicle to the hospital. She sustained two non-life-threatening graze wounds to her arm and abdomen during the shooting.

An investigation at the scene was conducted, and multiple shell casings were located outside of Ted’s Liquors.

The suspect vehicle is described as a dark-colored SUV.

FSU was made aware of the incident on Friday, however, we were unable to confirm the details surrounding the incident.
