Nine Displaced After Fire Heavily Damages Two Middletown Homes

The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s office is investigating a fire that occurred Wednesday evening in Middletown, according to Assistant State Fire Marshal Michael Chionchio.

Chionchio said the Odessa Fire Company was dispatched around 8:30 pm for several reports of a house on fire in the 100 block of Springfield Circle in the Villas at Willow Grove Mill development. Firefighters arrived on the scene with flames shooting from the house.

State fire investigators are currently on the scene searching for the fire’s origin and cause. Two homes sustained heavy damage displacing a total of 4 adults and 5 children. Total damage was estimated at $500,000. The American Red Cross has been requested to provide emergency assistance to those displaced residents. There were no reported injuries.

The cause of this fire remains under investigation.
