Wilmington Police are investigating a fatal shooting incident that occurred at approximately 9:27 p.m. Tuesday, in the area of 10th and Spruce Streets.
Police located a 21-year-old Derek Brown suffering from gunshot wounds. Brown was transported to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
Sources tell FSU that shortly after the shooting a police officer observed a man running from the scene and gave chase.
The subject was reportedly taken into custody a short distance away.
Wilmington Police did not confirm that a suspect was taken into custody in their press release.
